Adult Department
Library Regulations:

- Computers are available until 5 minutes before the library closes.
- Patrons can sign up for a maximum of two 60-minute sessions per day using PC Reservation. They must use their own library cards.
- No more than two people can use one terminal at the same time unless they receive permission from a reference librarian. This is granted if they can work quietly and do not interfere with others’ use of the computers.
- Appointments to use the computers can be taken over the phone. Users more than 5 minutes late forfeit their reservation.
- Guest IDs are granted to patrons at their request or if they do not have a library card.
- Library staff can offer only limited assistance in using this resource.
- Reservations can be taken over the telephone.
- Users who are more than 5 minutes late forfeit their reservation.
- Users must supply their own flash drives for storing information or purchase them at the Information Desk. Their work cannot be saved on library computer hard drives. Files saved to hard drive may be automatically deleted when the computer is restarted. The library is not responsible for files saved to the computer.
- Printing costs $.15 per page for black and white, $.35 for color, even if the patrons bring their own paper.
- The library is not responsible for any damage done by the library computers to a patron’s flash drives or disks. The library is also not responsible for time or data lost due to hardware or software problems.
- Library staff supervises the use of all computers and reserves the right to end any session for any cause at any time.
- The library cannot monitor or control information or images selected or accessed by adults, young adults, or children.
- The library cannot guarantee that the information on the internet is accurate, and is not responsible for information on sites accessed from its home page.
- The library cannot guarantee privacy for individuals using its computers, which are in an open environment.
By using an internet computer at the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, patrons agree to:

- Engage in responsible use of the library’s equipment and electronic resources.
- Be responsible for their own use of the computer and that of their children.
- Abide by all regulations and the library’s Code of Conduct.
- Abide by all federal, state and local laws.
Children’s Department
Library Regulations:

- Children’s department computers are for children, tweens and teens.
- Guest passes are granted to patrons at their request or if they do not have a library card.
- There is a 15¢ printing charge per page. There is a 35¢ printing charge per color page. Patrons cannot bring their own paper.
- Appointments to use the computers can be taken over the phone. Users more than 5 minutes late forfeit their reservation.
- Computers shut down 5 minutes before the Children’s Room closes.
- Only 2 people may use the computer at one time.
- Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult while using the computer.
- Users may not turn off, reset, reboot computers or change the desktop screen.

Internet Use Policy

The Port Chester – Rye Brook Public Library endeavors to develop services that meet the cultural, informational, educational, and recreational needs of diverse, multicultural community by providing access to Internet resources including social media and blogging sites that offer many valuable local, national and international sources of information. Information and resources on the Internet enhance those already held in the library and often go beyond what is locally available. Users are encouraged to take advantage of the Internet and to exercise good judgment and discretion in their use of it.
The Library supports the right to privacy and confidentiality with the policies, goals and objectives of the Port Chester – Rye Brook Public Library mission. The Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet, and therefore, cannot warrant the information available through its Internet connection to be accurate, authoritative, factual, timely or useful. In addition, because the content of the Internet is not managed or governed by any entity, users may encounter materials they consider offensive.
The Library assumes no responsibility for damages of any type arising from the use of Internet workstations. Use of the Internet for any illegal activity is prohibited. Such illegal activities may result in loss
of system privileges and criminal prosecution. As with other library materials, the restriction of a child’s access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian.
Wireless Network Policy

You may use your own equipment to access the internet at the Library if you have a device with a wireless connection. Most users can simply bring their wireless-enabled device to the Library and turn it
on. The device should automatically recognize the network. If it does not, check with the Reference Librarian to verify the wireless network is functioning.

You are responsible for virus and security protection on your own equipment.
The Library assumes no responsibility for damage, theft or loss of any kind to a user’s equipment, software, data files or other personal property brought into or used at the Library’s
facilities.
The Library cannot guarantee that the service will be available at any specific time.
The Library provides access to internet resources equally to all Library patrons, and upholds and affirms the right of each individual to have access to constitutionally protected material in
accordance with the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights.
Patrons must comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws. Illegal use of the internet is prohibited and may result in the loss of library privileges and/or criminal prosecution.
Display of sexually explicit graphics is inappropriate for a public and open environment and is prohibited.
Privacy may be limited while using patron equipment.
Library administration reserves the right to establish additional policies governing internet use and consequences for misuse that are consistent with its policies.
