1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Get your child ready to read by sharing books together!

“1000 Books Before Kindergarten” is a nationwide program designed to help parents and/or caregivers prepare their children for kindergarten with the goal of reading 1,000 books together.

Sign up for this program in the Children’s Department of the library.  Once registered, each child will receive a folder and a reading log. For every 100 books read, bring your child’s completed reading log to the library and your child will receive a sticker and star to place on our bulletin board.  Once your child has finished reading 1,000 books, they will receive a certificate and a bookplate with their name on it, which will be placed inside a brand-new book.

Wonderbooks

Wonderbooks are books that talk! Every Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Children will press play to read along with the story and then switch to learning mode for literacy learning and fun. Wonderbooks can be enjoyed at home by using your library card to borrow them.
